I run WinXP Pro SP2, and TrendMicro Anti-Spyware 3.0 (trial) informs me there is about 113KB of previously deleted files from the Recycle Bin that have not been fully deleted.

How do I delete these previously deleted files? Is there a free tool available that will accomplish this?

    Download Cleanup from Here
    • A window will open and choose SAVE, then DESKTOP as the destination.
    • On your Desktop, click on Cleanup40.exe icon.
    • Then, click RUN and place a checkmark beside "I Agree"
    • Then click NEXT followed by START and OK.
    • A window will appear with many choices, keep all the defaults as set when the Slide Bar to the left is set to Standard Quality.
    • Click OK
    • DO NOT RUN IT YET

Click here for info on how to boot to safe mode if you don't already know how.

Restart your computer into safe mode now. Perform the following steps in safe mode:

    Run Cleanup:
    • Click on the "Cleanup" button and let it run.
    • Once its done, close the program.

Go to Control Panel - Internet Options. Click on the Programs tab then click the "Reset Web Settings" button. Click Apply then OK.

    Cookiegal,

Thanks for your reply. I followed your suggestions, only to reconsider the question I had asked after looking at what Trend Micro Anti-Spyware 3.0 was telling me.

Apparently, it was just a description accounting for the fact that 113KB had been deleted from the Recycle Bin of previously deleted files, i.e. once you delete them e.g. right-click and choose delete, the files are moved to the Recycle Bin, and once the Recycle Bin was emptied by Trend Micro Anti-Spyware 3.0, the description was that it had removed the files previously deleted but not fully removed.

Apparently, I had interpreted that there were 113KB of files that had not been previously deleted that still needed to be removed - which was the question I thought I was asking. Turns out they were already deleted and I misinterpreted what it was telling me - oh well, Happy Halloween!

My apologies, I was very confused!
