All,
Stumbled across a few threads here about this problem where instead of the OSD coming on when you alter the brightness you just get a 1x1 inch white speckled box in the top left hand corner.
The last one thread gave a guide, but said not to install Win7 SP1. I can confirm that you can install SP1, just manually roll back the driver to the one from gateway available HERE
You'll have to download that driver, extract it somewhere, then open device manager, browse to your graphics card and update the driver, follow it through saying you have the disk and you want to manually select. Then browse to your folder where you extracted the driver. Go into the graphics folder and there should be an .inf file. Select that and let the driver install. I got a BSOD here, but when the laptop rebooted the graphics had rolled back to version 7.xxx and the OSD now worked as it should.
Hopefully this is some help!
Pete
