According to a "No Adware" scan I have Gemius on my computer. The booger must be hiding in my registry somewhere. No Adware supposedly removed it but it shows up wit each new scan.

I have turned off my system restore and rebooted in SAFE mode and re-run the program to remove it. I rescanned the computer and it was gone. Turned my system on this morning and scanned. Gemius is back.

    System: Win XP Pro - AMD 2800 - 1 meg RAM - Avast - No Adware v5

I don't know what to do. Below is a HJT log.

Can someone please lend some assistance?

    Thanks!

NOTE: If you have downloaded ComboFix previously please delete that version and download it again!

    Download this file :

    http://www.techsupportforum.com/sectools/sUBs/ComboFix.exe
    or
    http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/Beta/ComboFix.exe

Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log and a HiJack log in your next reply

    Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall

    =====================
Download Superantispyware (SAS) free home version

    http://www.superantispyware.com/superantispywarefreevspro.html

Install it and double-click the icon on your desktop to run it.
    · It will ask if you want to update the program definitions, click Yes.
    · Under Configuration and Preferences, click the Preferences button.
    · Click the Scanning Control tab.
    · Under Scanner Options make sure the following are checked:
    o Close browsers before scanning
    o Scan for tracking cookies
o Terminate memory threats before quarantining.
o Please leave the others unchecked.
o Click the Close button to leave the control center screen.
    · On the main screen, under Scan for Harmful Software click Scan your computer.
    · On the left check C:\Fixed Drive.
    · On the right, under Complete Scan, choose Perform Complete Scan.
    · Click Next to start the scan. Please be patient while it scans your computer.
    · After the scan is complete a summary box will appear. Click OK.
    · Make sure everything in the white box has a check next to it, then click Next.
    · It will quarantine what it found and if it asks if you want to reboot, click Yes.
    · To retrieve the removal information for me please do the following:
o After reboot, double-click the SUPERAntispyware icon on your desktop.
o Click Preferences. Click the Statistics/Logs tab.
o Under Scanner Logs, double-click SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log.
o It will open in your default text editor (such as Notepad/Wordpad).
o Please highlight everything in the notepad, then right-click and choose copy.
    · Click close and close again to exit the program.
    · Please paste that information here for me regardless of what it finds with a new HijackThis log.

    This will take some time!!!!!!!!

In the box it says "To protect your computer, Windows has closed this program"

    Then: Name: Windows Command Processor
    Publisher: Microsoft Corporation

    Help!

I can't read the whole thing but what I can see says:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\InternetSettings\...

Also, I downloaded AVG free version and did a scan. It found:
    Downloader.Injecter.n and
    Backdoor.IRCBot.aiu

No Adware also picked up Trojan.PWS.Tanspy

Whew! Had to be away for a while, long story...

I have tried the work-around and Combo Fix still will not run.

A friend told me to do a scan at TrendMicro. It found several problems but did not detect the Gemius

    The first scan found:

    Troj_Pakes.QT
    BKDR_IRCBot.AOX
    Worm_RBot.HAM
    BKDR_IRCBot.ALZ

    The second scan found:

    Tanspy_SMALL
    ADWARE_MEMWATCHER

The third scan said the computer was clean.

I then scanned with No Adware an it picked up the Gemius.

I don't want to have to reformat my HD Is that where I am headed?

    TIA

Add remove programs - remove Ewido - what you have is old

Download AVG Anti-Spyware from http://www.ewido.net/en/download/ and save that file to your desktop. Note: This is NOT the Anti Virus from AVG.

When the trial period expires it becomes feature-limited freeware but is still worth keeping as a good on-demand scanner.
    1. Once you have downloaded AVG Anti-Spyware, locate the icon on the desktop and double click it to launch the set up program.
    2. Once the setup is complete you will need run AVG Anti-Spyware and update the definition files.
    3. On the main screen select the icon "Update" then select the "Update now" link.
o Next select the "Start Update" button. The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
    4. Once the update has completed, select the "Scanner" icon at the top of the screen, then select the "Settings" tab.
    5. Once in the Settings screen click on "Recommended actions" and then select "Quarantine".
    6. Under "Reports"
o Select "Automatically generate report after every scan"
o Un-Select "Only if threats were found"
Close AVG Anti-Spyware. Do Not run a scan just yet, we will run it in safe mode.
    1. Reboot your computer into Safe Mode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode then hit enter.

IMPORTANT: Do not open any other windows or programs while AVG Anti-Spyware is scanning as it may interfere with the scanning process:
    2. Launch AVG Anti-Spyware by double clicking the icon on your desktop.
    3. Select the "Scanner" icon at the top and then the "Scan" tab then click on "Complete System Scan".
    4. AVG will now begin the scanning process. Please be patient as this may take a little time.
Once the scan is complete, do the following:
    5. If you have any infections you will be prompted. Then select "Apply all actions."
    6. Next select the "Reports" icon at the top.
    7. Select the "Save report as" button in the lower lef- hand of the screen and save it to a text file on your system (make sure to remember where you saved that file. This is important).
    8. Close AVG Anti-Spyware and reboot your system back into Normal Mode.
Post the log from AVG and a new HiJack log
