Solved: Get no paging file error message and computer hangs on welcome page

    When loading windows I receive a message that the paging file is missing or too small. I have tried to fix this in the system page of control panel but changes are not applied when the computer is restarted. This causes Windows to hang on the welcome page--If I am patient windows will eventually load. I tried to solve this problem by reloading Windows XP but it did not help. I ran chkdsk /r both before and after reinstalling Windows. My wife recently got in a site accidentally that put viruses on the computer, but I downloaded software to eliminate them (I don't recall the name of the virus). After I reinstalled windows, my attempts to reinstall McAfee virus suite have not been successful.

    Problem solved. Installed a new hard drive and reinstalled Windows XP and various programs.
