I was just wondering if such a thing exists, I was going to buy a crossover cable off eBay, and the majority of them only support 10/100 mpbs connections, however there are a rare few, cat5e crossover cables that apparently support 'Gigabit'. Is it possible?

Yes. However, I think that all gigabit ethernet ports are auto sensing (MDI/MDIX) so a cross-over cable is not needed. Just a regular patch cable with all 8 wires working.

Early gigabit nics did not support mdi-x, it was an optional standard, but I think all of them these days do.
