I preparing to download a program to my computer I saw a box stating, "before starting download" scan your pc". I thought it was part of the program I was going to download so started the scan. It ended up being a program called Uniblue Registry Booster and the scan detected the following
System related errors 199 (damage level high)
User related erros 222 (damage level high)
Third Party related errors (errors affecting programs installed on your pc) -0-

When I click on the details it displayed all the scanned registry keys with notations such as: Incorrect file extension - Empty Key - Missing sound file - Missing or invalid path.

Before clicking the "fix" button I decided to do a google search on the program and found comments stating that the program wasn't all that good, you had to pay after clicking the "fix" button and that CCleaner was a much better program and was a free download.

Having a program clean my registry is somewhat scary so I am curious if CCleaner is a difficult program to use and is it effective?

DO NOT USE ANY BRAND OF REGISTRY CLEANER/OPTIMIZER/TUNER, ETC. ETC.

CCleaner is a pretty good program to have except for the Registry Tool. Just do not use it. The file cleaner and tools sections are handy, but I repeat DO NOT USE THE REGISTRY TOOL.

You may get away with it 1 maybe 2 or more times using registry tools, but sooner or later the registry will be damaged and then you are stuck. Aside from that factor, there is no real evidence cleaning the registry has any real functional advantage. My advice avoid them like the plague.

I dont use any kind of cleaners in any of my computers. Most of them create more problems than they solve and at worst they trash the computer and then you have a mess to deal with.Anything that claims to fix a registry it will fix it real good.Which means it wont boot up and can end up an expensive paperweight.
