Building a new computer from an ASUS A8N SLI Deluxe. AMD 64 FX 57. In trying to select a hard drive, I am confused about whether I want SATA. Don't understand it or know if it's better than whatever in not SATA. Is SATA the preferred standard? Thanks for any help on this.

sata is the preffered standard. its faster + better than ata. i have a 250gb samsung sp2504c sata hard drive + has done me proud. it can handle 3gbs but my motherboard only handles 1.5gbs.... it would be worth your while getting an sata drive over an ata... P.S the 250gb one i have was only £80

Thank you. I have researched online and see that SATA is becoming the standard(or already is). Thanks for your time.
