All that happened was the network cable that connects to my space in the house was disconnected from the modem. When I reconnected, I thought I had no signal, but when I open the LAN connection it shows it working properly, but when I open IE I get the "not connected" screen. I'm running XP on an
HP6000 laptop.
It doesn't make sense to me that just unplugging and re-plugging the cable would cause a problem.

TIA
SS

Adding the diagnostic log from IE7. Also note that the other computer connected to the same router is working fine. Am using it to send this.

Some of this will overlap those diagnostics, but it will be more readable ...

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
(For Vista or 7 type CMD in the Search box after Start)

Type the following commands:

IPCONFIG /ALL

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

ping 192.168.102.1

ping 67.195.160.76

ping yahoo.com

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.

Sometimes it's the simple things. I removed the vonage router that was giving problems anyway, and reset the network and now I'm back online as though nothing had happened. Thanks, and I will refer back to this if the problem occurs again.
Thanks so much.
