Try This:

To make the View Status bar always show in a new IE browser window,

1. Start Internet Explorer.

2. From the View menu, select Status Bar. A check should now appear next to this option.

3. From the View menu, select Toolbars and then Lock Toolbars. Again, a check mark should now appear next to your selection.

4. Close Internet Explorer by pressing your Ctrl key and clicking the Close box in the top right corner.

5. Right-click your Start button in the lower left of your desktop.

6. Select Explorer. A Start Menu dialog will appear.

7. From the View menu, select Status Bar. The status bar will appear at the bottom and you should see an item count and size for the folder you're viewing.

8. From the Tools menu, select Folder Options A Folder Options dialog will appear.

9. Click the View tab at the top.

10. Click the Apply to All Folders button.

11. Click Yes if prompted to set all the folder options to match the current folder.

12. Click OK and close Windows Explorer.

To verify the fix works, open a web page with many links in Internet Explorer such as Google or Yahoo! Your status bar should show. Next, find an interesting link, right-click, and select Open in New Window. You should also see the status bar in this second window. If not, verify your Status Bar and Lock Toolbar settings are still enabled in Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer.
