Ares is a P2P file sharing program and actually according to the TSG rules is illegal program since these file sharing programs are used for downloading illegal copyrighted material and most of the files downlaoded are usually infected with some sort of vermin.

I do not think that there is anything wrong with helping you to rid your computer of this.

Have you tried using add/remove programs yet?

If Ares is not in there you can try where it shows in all programs and see if there is an un-installation there.

Also give this a try if these do not help

To download HJTsetup.exe from TrendSecure To Download HijackThis go to the following at the File Repository
Click on the link below to Download HijackThis Self Installer:

    http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/threat_analytics/HJTInstall.exe

Save the file to your desktop.
Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\HijackThis.
Continue to click Next in the setup dialog boxes until you get to the Select Additional Tasks dialog.
Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialog box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
At the top of the Notepad HJT log screen, hit Edit then Select All then click Edit and then click Copy doing that copies the text to the clipboard, you won't see it yet....
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
A security expert with a gold shield to the right of their name should take a look at your log - please be patient.

    Hi Rosereds

Only observing but noticed you have Superantispyware listed
While your waiting for Senior Member
Right Click the Superantispyware Icon in the TaskBar
    About fourth up you'll see
"Find out whats running on your Computer"
Double click to go to the site download the activeX and it'll search and report on
whats actually running. (The Lot that is)
Report is colour coded, good bad and ugly.
Thats how I found my advertising bug, nasty to say the least

Go to Start > Run, enter msconfig > then select "Launch System Restore".

Select a date when things were working properly.

Don't be shy about going back a few days, only programs that were subsequently installled will be removed (such as "ares")

Do not uninstall java whatever you do it is needed for so many sites.
I would run some online scans here:
    www.bitdefender.com
    www.ewido.net
and see if that doesn't remove the junk and speed thing sup.

You know you have more running in startup than I have ever seen on a pc and almost none of it is necessary. I would go Start, Run, msconfig, startup, ok and remove everything except for Avg entries hit apply and then you will be asked to reboot.
You may also want to uninstall Spy Hunter which has no real ability to prevent spyware coming onboard and is a real system drag according to reviews online, and buy something like www.superantispyware.com which is a far superior product.
