    Hi, Welcome to TSG!!

I've split you off to your own thread so please reply here.

    * Click Here and download Killbox and save it to your desktop.

    * Download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here.
    Install ewido.
During the installation, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
    Launch ewido
It will prompt you to update click the OK button and it will go to the main screen
On the left side of the main screen click update
Click on Start and let it update.
DO NOT run a scan yet. You will do that later in safe mode.

    * Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
This program is for XP and Windows 2000 only

    • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
      Under Main choose: Select All
      Click the Empty Selected button.
    If you use Firefox browser
    • Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
      Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
    If you use Opera browser
    • Click Opera at the top and choose: Select All
      Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

    * Now copy these instructions to notepad and save them to your desktop. You will need them to refer to in safe mode.

    * Restart in safe mode by tapping the F8 key when the computer begins to reboot.

Run HJT again and put a check in the following:

    O20 - AppInit_DLLs: C:\WINDOWS\system32\systx.dll

Close all applications and browser windows before you click "fix checked".

    Close Hijackthis.

    * Double-click on Killbox.exe to run it.
Put a tick by Standard File Kill.
In the "Full Path of File to Delete" box, copy and paste the following line.

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\systx.dll

Click on the button that has the red circle with the X in the middle after you enter the file name.
It will ask for confimation to delete the file.
    Click Yes.

Note: It is possible that Killbox will tell you that the file does not exist.

    * Run Ewido:
    Click on scanner
Click Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
During the scan it will prompt you to clean files, click OK
When the scan is finished, look at the bottom of the screen and click the Save report button.
Save the report to your desktop.

    * Reboot to normal mode now.

    * Run ActiveScan online virus scan here
    http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan.htm

When the scan is finished, anything that it cannot clean have it delete it.
Make a note of the file location of anything that cannot be deleted so you
    can delete it yourself.
Save the results from the scan!

After reboot please post your hijackthis log, the Ewido log and the ActiveScan log.

Thanks for your help thus far.

I have done what you said, however the problem still persits.

Below are the logs. I have also discovered a BHO in IE, I believe this is the root of my problems. I have tried deleteing this file and removing all refrences to it in the registry but I can't get rid of it!

    The BHO is: c:\windows\system32\mlljj.dll

Run HJT again and put a check in the following:

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

Close all applications and browser windows before you click "fix checked".

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.
    • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
    • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
    • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
    • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
    • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
    • When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK.
    • Turn your computer back on.
    • Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.

VundoFix seems to have cured the problem so far, it removed several threats.

I also ran HJT again, the log is below.

Like I said so far it seems to be ok.

Many many thanks for all your help! I was on the verge of a format and reinstall.

Vundo has found out how to hide from HJT so I didn't know you had that until it showed up in the Ewido scan.

Looks good now and I can tell you are happier! :)

It's a good idea to Flush your System Restore after removing malware:

    • On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
    • Click Properties.
    • Click the System Restore tab.
    • Check Turn off System Restore.
    • Click Apply, and then click OK.
    • Restart the computer.

To create a new restore point:
    • Start go to All Programs
    • Accessories, System Tools and select System Restore.
    • In the System Restore wizard, select "Create a restore point" and click the Next button.
    • Type a description for your new restore point. Something like "After trojan/spyware cleanup".
    • Click Create and you're done.
