My anti virus found a worm (silly worm), I ran two scans, one before and one after turning off my system restore, it removed 41 items related to the worm. I then ran hj and have added the log here, then ran as advised here ewido in safe mode. It found 5 and removed them. I saved the report to my desktop, but the report is only accessible in safe mode?? I then ran a second hj and have included the log here as well. Hope someone can help, have I removed all traces of the worm? As an added precaution should I also reformat?

Add remove programs – remove Logitech desktop messenger – later after you reboot if those O18’s are still there fix them with HiJack

Fix these with HJT – mark them, close IE, click fix checked

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [UpdReg] C:\WINDOWS\UpdReg.EXE

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [winupdates] C:\Program Files\winupdates\winupdates.exe /auto

DownLoad http://www.downloads.subratam.org/KillBox.zip

Restart your computer into safe mode now. (Tapping F8 at the first black screen) Perform the following steps in safe mode:

Double-click on Killbox.exe to run it. Now put a tick by Standard File Kill. In the "Full Path of File to Delete" box, copy and paste each of the following lines one at a time then click on the button that has the red circle with the X in the middle after you enter each file. It will ask for confimation to delete the file. Click Yes. Continue with that same procedure until you have copied and pasted all of these in the "Paste Full Path of File to Delete" box.

C:\Program Files\winupdates

Note: It is possible that Killbox will tell you that one or more files do not exist. If that happens, just continue on with all the files. Be sure you don't miss any.

START – RUN – type in %temp% OK - Edit – Select all – File – Delete

Delete everything in the C:\Windows\Temp folder or C:\WINNT\temp

Empty the recycle bin
Boot and post a new log from normal NOT safe mode

Please give feedback on what worked/didn’t work and the current status of your system

A little confused on the hjt items. I found one 018 (O18 - Protocol: msnim - {828030A1-22C1-4009-854F-8E305202313F} - "C:\PROGRA~1\MSNMES~1\msgrapp.dll" (file missing) is this one to be deleted? Also, your advice of the "DownLoad http://www.downloads.subratam.org/KillBox.zip" I can't seem to locate in the hjt log?

All is done as instructed. Sorry about the earlier  confused question of mine, I thought I was suppose to look for a file called download. A backup file has been placed on my desktop from the killbox. Should I just delete this? Here is my new hjt log.

I can't thank you enough, all seems a-ok! Except one little thing, whether its related or just one of those weird things. Everytime I click on yahoo.ca in my address bar it changes it to http://ca.yahoo.com/ ??? I cleared everything, history, cookies, etc, but it still happens. Any thoughts?
once again, I send my deepest thanks for all of your help. ms_k

Did it on mine - I suspect that the ca.yahoo.com is the current address and the yahoo.ca was an old one

If you feel it is fixed, mark it solved via thread tools above

More! Help?! I did another scan and it came back with: Mugly Worm, AlcanA worm, Viewpoint Toolbar, and a whole mess of other things. Please help. I've done everything that was suggested in this post, how do I get rid of these?

I am REALLY confused! I ran Xoftspy and found the items-worms etc. Not having paid for it, I couldn't use it as a removel tool. So, I ran Spybot, and it came back clean?? Is my system infected or not?
