Hi, bassplayer07. Your computer seems to be infected, but you must be able to connect to the internet. We need to do the following:

Download CW-Shredder at the link below and but do not run it yet:

    http://cwshredder.net/bin/CWShredder.exe

Download the following file to a folder in the computer:

    http://www.derbilk.de/cms/_data/SpSeHjfix112.zip

Click a blank part of desktop & select new folder, call it spfix unzip the downloaded file SpSeHjfix112.zip into that folder

Disconnect from the Internet and Close ALL OPEN PROGRAMS.

Click on the 'Spfix' icon and run the 'SpSeHjfix'. Click on "Start Disinfection".

When it's finished it will reboot your machine to finish the cleaning process.

The tool creates a log of the fix which will appear in the folder.

If it doesn't find any of the SE files or any hidden reinstallers it will say system clean and not go on to next stage

Now run the Shredder - Hit The FIX button!

Run Hijackthis. Place a checkmark on the following lines and click on Fix Checked:

    Perform an ActiveSCan:

    http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/

Save the report to the desktop.

    Reboot.

Post a new HijackThis log and the results of the ActiveScan reports, as well as the log that was created by 'Spfix'.

If you are unable to to reach the internet, download the enclosed file and extract its contents to the desktop of the trouble machine. Once there, doubleclick on the check.bat file. It will create a logit.txt file that you can open in Notepad. If there is a list of files therein, copy and paste that list in a reply.

    Looking better already.

Remove ViewPoint Manager from your installed programs.

Close all Browsers. Fix the following lines in Hijackthis:

    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page =
    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page =
    O2 - BHO: Class - {05C14565-6A58-3226-F0E3-0143E875B618} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\atlch32.dll (file missing)
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ShowWnd] ShowWnd.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ViewMgr] C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [netgi32.exe] C:\WINDOWS\netgi32.exe

You are gonna have to download Cleanup from Here:

    http://www.stevengould.org/downloads/cleanup/CleanUp40.exe

    * A window will open and choose SAVE, then DESKTOP as the destination.
    * On your Desktop, click on Cleanup40.exe icon.
    * Then, click RUN and place a checkmark beside "I Agree"
    * Then click NEXT followed by START and OK.
    * A window will appear with many choices, keep all the defaults as set when the Slide Bar to the left is set to Standard Quality.
    * Click OK

    * Run Cleanup:
    * Click on the "Cleanup" button and let it run.
    * Once its done, close the program.

    Download and run WinsockFix:

    http://www.snapfiles.com/get/winsockxpfix.html

Keep me posted. I'll be out for the night, but I will check on you tomorrow. If after running WinsockFix you are able to connect, run ActiveScan and Save the report. Post a fresh HJT log and the ActiveSCan report.

OK, also, there are a couple of things I want to be more specific about. The desktop, is constantly flashing between white and off grey and is doing wierd things such as when its flashing you cannot click on anything. When I right click on the desktop this is what I get in the drag down menu: (you can only select a few of these and i will make them bold for you)

    BACK
    FORWARD
    SAVE BACKGROUND AS...
    COPY BACKGROUND...
    SET AS DESKTOP ITEM...

    SELECT ALL
    PASTE
    CREATE SHORTCUT
    ADD TO FAVORITES
    VIEW SOURCE
    ENCODING
    MORE
    PRINT
    EXPORT TO MICROSOFT EXCEL
    PROPERTIES

I just dont get it, and when I try to manually change the desktop background, it is locked for some reason.... any clues?

Remove Winhound from your installed programs if present.

    * Copy these instructions to notepad and save them to your desktop. You will need them to refer to in safe mode.

Download Killbox from any of the sites below, and have it ready to run later-on:

    http://www.downloads.subratam.org/KillBox.exe

    http://www.downloads.subratam.org/KillBox.zip

Close all browsers. Run Hijackthis. Fix the following line:

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Yahoo! Pager] 1

Boot the computer in Safe Mode. Perform the following in Safe Mode:

Open Windows Explorer. Locate and delete the following folders:

    C:\Program Files\PartyPoker.net
    C:\Program Files\WinHound
    C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager

    * Go to Control Panel > Internet Options. Click on the Programs tab, then click the "Reset Web Settings" button. Click Apply then OK.

    * Next go to Control Panel > Display. Click on the "Desktop" tab then click the "Customize Desktop" button. Click on the "Web" tab. Under "Web Pages" you should see an entry checked called something like "Security info" or similar. If it is there, select that entry and click the "Delete" button. Click OK then Apply and OK.

    Close all Windows.

Run KILL box. Paste the following locations into KILL BOX one at a time. Checkmark the box that says "Delete on Reboot" and checkmark the box "Unregister DLL" (If available) Click the RED X and it will ask you to confirm the file for deletion…say YES and when the next box opens prompting you to reboot now...click no...and proceed with the next file. Once you get to the last one click YES and it will reboot.

    Locations:

    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\msblank.html
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\oleext.dll
    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\2.dat
    C:\WINDOWS\sdkpr32.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\warnhp.html
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\ldr139.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\ldr144.dll

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\ldr875.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\ldr926.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\ldr956.dll

Upon restart, post a fresh Hijackthis log and give some feedback about the computer's behavior.

    * Click here to download smitRem.exe.
    • Save the file to your desktop.
    • It is a self extracting file.
    • Doubleclick the smitRem.exe and it will extract the files to a smitRem folder on your desktop.
    • Do not do anything with it yet. You will run the RunThis.bat file later in safe mode.

    * Download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here.
    • Install ewido.
    • During the installation, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
    • Launch ewido
    • It will prompt you to update click the OK button and it will go to the main screen
    • On the left side of the main screen click update
    • Click on Start and let it update.
    • DO NOT run a scan yet. You will do that later in safe mode.

    * Click here for info on how to boot to safe mode if you don't already know how.

    * Now copy these instructions to notepad and save them to your desktop. You will need them to refer to in safe mode.

    * Restart your computer into safe mode now. Perform the following steps in safe mode:

    * Open the smitRem folder, then double click the RunThis.bat file to start the tool. Follow the prompts on screen.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.

    * Run Ewido:
    • Click on scanner
    • Click Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
    • During the scan it will prompt you to clean files, click OK
    • When the scan is finished, look at the bottom of the screen and click the Save report button.
    • Save the report to your desktop

    * Go to Control Panel > Internet Options. Click on the Programs tab then click the "Reset Web Settings" button.

    * Restart back into Windows normally now.

Post a new HiJackThis log along with the results from the ewido scan

OK, so, I know Im like updating every minute now, but here is the latest. Immediately after my most recent post I went back to display settings/customize/web, and the security thing was there, so I deleted it, this was the first time i deleted it while not in safe mode, and it seems like my desktop is back to normal... i even rebooted to see if it would come back up, and it didnt, ill keep my fingers crossed.

Now, about the spyware ill wait for a pro response, hehe... also, I have a question for both of you, once this is all said and done, what virus protection programs and spyware programs do you guys suggest or reccommend running?

and, here is the list of programs i have downloaded due to this whole thing to begin with... should i remove these programs when this is all said and done, or store them in a folder somewhere:

    Hijack This
    Clean Up 40
    SpSehFix
    CWS Shredder
    SpyBotSD14
    Ewido Security Suite
    KillBOX
    AboutBuster
    WinSokxpFIX
    SMIT REN

oh, and I downloaded Mozilla, whew, thats a lot!

    Get rid of :

    ewido
    SpSehFix
    CWS Shredder
    AboutBuster
    WinSokxpFIX
    SmitREm

    Keep the rest.

    Now turn off System Restore:

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
    Click Properties.
    Click the System Restore tab.
    Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Restart your computer, turn System Restore back on and create a restore point.

    To create a restore point:

Single-click Start and point to All Programs.
