Thanks Telecom. I have tried but for some reason my system will not run the newest version 1.99. I posted the error in a different thread and was advised to run the older version. [HJT pops up an error message referencing a memory location and must close before the scan completes or generates a log file - the error message is attached] I'm happy to try out any suggestions.

    Thanks again,
    Sam

You are not the first to have had problems with version 1.99 lately and indeed there are comments on the hijack website about it being "less than perfect" and that bugs are being worked on and should be fixed by the end of this month

I did as instructed - all went well. Interestingly, CWShredder found zero infections or instances of CoolWebSearch. Regardless, I successfully had HiJack fix the items you indicated. Then I booted in safe mode and deleted the files indicated. I rebooted and ran HJT v.1.99 and this time it ran fine without the error. Here's the log... Thanks!

Things are looking much better now. I deleted the last few you mentioned. I also ran Ad-Aware again and this time it was able to delete everything it found. My last HJT log is below. I made bold a couple of lines I wasn't sure about. Thanks so much for all your help!

ati2evxx.exe is the ATI External Event Utility for your ATI display drivers. It manages the ATI Hotkey feature. This process can be removed to free up resources without comprimising system performance, but its not a threat ......

About this one Im not sure, you can read about it here and make up your own mind

is probably OK its to do with zipped files ......
