    Hi

Seems I have picked up the following trojans which seem to reinstall after each reboot. Spyware doctor has been of little help and as a result I am being continually bombarded with other trojans etc attempting to download.

    Trojan.Downloader.Small.CML (Troj/BckDr-DKG [Sophos]
    Trojan.Win32.Agent.qt [Kaspersky]
    Backdoor.Sualimpo.E [BitDefender]
    Trojan.Click.1210 [Dr Web])

I am pretty much a newbie at this but thru browsing other threads I have at least managed to download and run HJT - the log is as follows:

    Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1

    Hi and welcome :)

Download the trial version of Ewido Anti-spyware from HERE and save that file to your desktop. When the trial period expires, it becomes freeware with reduced functions but still worth keeping.

    • Once you have downloaded Ewido Anti-spyware, locate the icon on the desktop and double-click it to launch the set up program.
    • Once the setup is complete you will need run Ewido and update the definition files.
    • On the main screen select the icon "Update" then select the "Update now" link.
    • Next select the "Start Update" button, the update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
    • Once the update has completed select the "Scanner" icon at the top of the screen, then select the "Settings" tab.
    • Once in the Settings screen click on "Recommended actions" and then select "Quarantine"
    • Under "Reports"
    • Select "Automatically generate report after every scan"
    • Un-Select "Only if threats were found"

Close Ewido Anti-Spyware, DO NOT run a scan yet. We will do that later in Safe Mode.

    • Reboot your computer into Safe Mode now. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode then hit enter.
IMPORTANT: Do not open any other windows or programs while Ewido is scanning as it may interfere with the scanning process:
    • Launch Ewido Anti-spyware by double-clicking the icon on your desktop.
    • Select the "Scanner" icon at the top and then the "Scan" tab then click on "Complete System Scan".
    • Ewido will now begin the scanning process. Be patient this may take a little time.
Once the scan is complete do the following:
    • If you have any infections you will prompted, then select "Apply all actions"
    • Next select the "Reports" icon at the top.
    • Select the "Save report as" button in the lower left hand of the screen and save it to a text file on your system (make sure to remember where you saved that file, this is important).
    • Close Ewido and reboot your system back into Normal Mode.

Run ActiveScan online virus scan: here

When the scan is finished, save the results from the scan!

Come back here and post a new Hijack This log along with the logs from the Ewido and Panda scans.

Thx for the prompt reply - did as instructed but I am still infected. As I write Norton has blocked 3 further attempted trojan/1 adware downloads and I am again running Ewido and it is has found downloader.small [again]

    Anyway, logs attached as follows:

Ran Ewido - scan log 1 attached

    rebooted

Ran pandasoftware scan - scan log 1 attached
Ran Ewido - no log attached as I have reached the max allowable files of 5

    rebooted

ran Ewido - scan log 3 attached
ran pandasoftware - scan log 2 attached
ran HJT - scan log 1 attached

I am guessing but it would appear that I am having trouble cleaning them all off which is leading to onging infection at reboot/connection to the internet

Grateful any further help you can provide.

Ok, downloaded the programs, run ATF Cleaner - ready for the next step.

For interest, I ran Ewido again after I connected to the internet this morning and this time it found a different downloader:-

    ewido anti-spyware - Scan Report
    ---------------------------------------------------------

    + Created at: 7:05:34 AM 28/07/2006

    + Scan result:

    C:\System Volume Information\_restore{545DA8F8-145B-4150-BB4C-B67772D7756F}\RP68\A0011276.exe -> Downloader.Zlob.zy : Cleaned with backup (quarantined).

    ::Report end

I was offline for the last two days and after running Ewido yesterday morning I was getting no hits for anything.

    Rescan with Hijack This.
Close all browser windows except Hijack This.
Put a check mark beside these entries and click "Fix Checked".

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Alcmtr] ALCMTR.EXE

    O21 - SSODL: cinnamomum - {93ac7c30-3878-4eaa-9420-7977285df5b1} - (no file)

    Close Hijack This.

Please download the Killbox by Option^Explicit.

Note: In the event you already have Killbox, this is a new version that I need you to download.
    • Save it to your desktop.
    • Please double-click Killbox.exe to run it.
    • Select:
      • Delete on Reboot
      • then Click on the All Files button.
    • Please copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy):

      C:\WINDOWS\system32\winosz32.dll
      C:\Documents and Settings\Brad Crockett\Local Settings\Temp\mst5.tmp
      C:\Documents and Settings\Brad Crockett\Local Settings\Temp\mst12.tmp

    • Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose Paste from Clipboard.
    • Click the red-and-white Delete File button. Click Yes at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click OK at any PendingFileRenameOperations prompt (and please let me know if you receive this message!).

If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.

If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run Killbox, click here to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try Killbox again.

    Post a new log.

    Hi

Did as instructed - deleted the two files via Hijack This and then ran Killbox and deleted the 3 files there on reboot. Interestingly, Norton "found" the 3 trojans after I pasted them into Killbox. No issues when I ran Killbox.

For the sake of completeness, I enclose 3 logs starting with the one from Killbox. I also ran Norton given it found those 3 and it found nothing after the reboot

    What next?

    Thx
    Brad

Turn System Restore back on and create a restore point.

    To create a restore point:

Single-click Start and point to All Programs.
Mouse over Accessories, then System Tools, and select System Restore.
In the System Restore wizard, select the box next the text labeled "Create a restore point" and click the Next button.
Type a description for your new restore point. Something like "After trojan/spyware cleanup". Click Create and you're done.
