Hi,
I have windows 7 Pro installed. I have a DSL connection that requires a username and password. I have read the tutorials for setting up ICS in windows 7, but it is not working for me. In my 'change adapter settings' page, I have 3 connections: LAN, Wireless and M 1 (this is the dial-up for the username and password). Here's what I have done:
I have enabled ICS for M 1, and created an ad-hoc wireless connection called 'M network'. I basically want to share my wired connection with my iPhone. Everything is ok as far as connecting my iPhone to M network, but when I try to use the internet, all i get is a 'connecting' message on my phone, and it doesnt go any further. I have used this network before to connect 'air mouse' on my phone that lets me use my phone as a touchpad. It still works fine that way, but I cant use internet.
I have even tried enabling the ICS on LAN instead, but got the same results.
Can you post the following for the connected machine?
Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt:
In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following command:
Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.
IPCONFIG /ALL
Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter to copy the contents to the clipboard.
Paste the results in a message here.
If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.
hi again,
i tried it on my other phone, and its working fine. looks like is a problem with this particular phone. wonder whats wrong. anyway, thank you for your help and sorry for wasting your time again.
For an easier way of turning a Wired (ethernet) internet connection into a Wireless connection to share with you Phone, Friends, etc. Check out Connectify - Connectify is for Windows 7 only. The 'virtualized' adapters was adding in windows 7, but a easy front end didn't. So Connectify adds the easy front end!
Thanks for the suggestion though MBaer. I am marking this as solved. It doesn't seem to be my computer's fault.
