On a Sony Vaio TX12 I have noticed that Hibernation mode no longer seems to be available, or in fact viewable anywhere.

Yes, I have gone into power options, advanced - sleep etc, but no hibernation mode?!!

I was there last week, I used it, and I make use of it often but now nothing. I have installed some stuff, but nothing to do with the system etc.

Anyone got some ideas? e.g. is there a run command for hibernation... I find it strange it completely disappeared from all options???

try this, open an elevated command prompt, type the text below and hit enter, see if this restores hibernate.

    powercfg -h on

I can't solve your problem, but I would suggest you stop using it.I tried it 3 times over the course of about 3 weeks on my 3 mth old laptop(dell latitude d630)and the third time it corrupted the entire windows installation(Programs not starting and corrupting, windows vista basic randomly rebooting and even asking for registration:mad:)I had to reformat the drive to return things to normal

Sorry to here that. Not nice when that stuff happens.

I have been using hibernation since Win ME and thankfully no issues. MAin reason I use it is that Windows takes so long to boot, 4 minutes is too long for my patience these days.

The second thing I can never be happy with is wondering where the hell the option went to? and why it dissapeared????

    YEEES!!! Got the answer!!

Mumbodog was nearly there its powercfg -hibernation on (not powercfg -h on)

The reason why it disapeared is because of an issue with System clean up?!!
    see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928897/ Thanks dave
