    Hi,

Been awhile since I posted here because my computer has been running fine......until now. For the past couple of weeks it has been running slow. Not all the time, just once or twice a week. I have tried everything I can think of, CC Cleaner, Defragged, Spybot, ect. Virius protection is up to date. I have high speed internet service but the way it is running it reminds me of dial up. I did test my internet service using there speed test and the download came in at 3.50 and the upload was 0.83. I know these are slow, usually around 6 and 1.10 My computer is a Dell 4700. Is there a way to tell if it is my computer or the internet service? Thanks,

    Danboy

If a speed test used to show a higher speed and now it's slower, it's probably a problem with your ISP. Give them a call and tell them the results of the speed tests. Also do regular speed tests and keep a record of what you find.

I also remember that about a month ago we had a virus. We took the computer to a friend and he did a system restore and that helped for awhile. Would the virus still be in my computer and could that be our problem?

Please click here to download and install version 2.0.2 of the HijackThis Installer.

Run it and select Do a system scan and save a logfile.

The log will be saved in Notepad. Copy and paste the log in your next post.

    Do not fix anything

Have you tried disabling Spybot's TeaTimer?

How much RAM is on that computer?

Is that proxy setting enabled? http=localhost:8080

I have 2.5 MB of Ram installed on this computer. The other two items you mentioned I do not know about or how to find them. If you tell me I will do it though.
I thought maybe the Spybot was in install/remove programs so I went to the control panel, add remove programs and waited for 3-4 minutes for the list to be populated but it never came up.

Only disable TeaTimer within the Spybot configuration panel. No need to uninstall Spybot.

As for the proxy server, open IE, click on Tools > Internet Options > Connections tab > LAN Settings (> Advanced).

The proxy box is unchecked. As far as Spybot, I went into the home screen and I saw nothing about tea timer.

I believe that did it Phantom010. I just ran the speed test and the download speed is up above 8 now. Things seem to be working fine. How does the teatime affect my computer like that?
