I've received a couple of undeliverable mail messages, stating attachments contained a
virus but were cleaned. The problem is I never sent them. Can anyone explain this conundrum, pls?
    (Thanx)

    This is very common.
When somone elses PC is infected, the virus harvests all email addresses from the system, and sends itself out picking one at random as the false "From:" address.

It is called "spoofing" and is a very common event unfortunately.

When any responses occur, then you get then since it will be your address that has been spoofed as the sender.

You should of course do a full AV scan of your own system for peace of mind, but the problem likely lies elsewher.

There is nothing you can do apart from hunting down everyone that has your email address in their system. In other words, nothing you can do.
