I hope you don't mind me jumping in here. I was going to post but A Hawk beat me to it :D

    This entry is a virus

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [svchost] C:\WINDOWS\svchost.exe

Be careful though, svchost.exe is a valid file but it shouldn't be running from C:Windows. The valid one runs in System32, as you have in your running processes.

I'm surprised your PC-Cillin scan didn't take care of that. Try one or two on-line scans and see what comes up.

BTW, thanks for the help guys, I really appreciate it :D
Ok I ran the panda virus scan, here are the results for that one

    Incident Status Location

    Virus:Exploit/ByteVerify Disinfected C:\Documents and Settings\Shaun\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\javapi\v1.0\jar\count.jar-6f603a77-4415fdaa.zip[Dummy.class]

I don't blame you for being disappointed. It's always good to run one or two on-line scans from time to time for good measure.

You can go ahead and have Hijack This fix this entry

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [svchost] C:\WINDOWS\svchost.exe

Make sure files are not hidden by doing this:

    Windows XP

    Click Start.

    Open My Computer.

Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.

    Select the View Tab.

Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.

Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.

    Click Yes to confirm.

    Click OK.

Find and delete the file : C:\WINDOWS\svchost.exe

AGAIN BEING CAREFUL NOT TO TOUCH THE SVCHOST.EXE IN SYSTEM 32

Let's wait for Hawk to take a final look at things now.

thanks cookie! Ok I did everything you said, deleted the c:\windows\svchost.exe, then went back and checked the "hide protected operating system files", emptied my recycle bin, did a disk cleanup and defrag, rebooted and did a new hijack this log...here it is

btw, should I have 3 C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe files running?

    You're welcome :)

Yes, it's quite normal to have three or four svchost's running, as long as they are in Systerm 32. If you ever see another one in C:Windows, that's not good.

I would still like Hawk to give the final say on the log though but I think you're fine now.

    Good luck,

    Cookie

 everything seemed ok until I did a manual scan with pc-cillin, it found 3 more viruses, the btyevrfy files, I couldn't clean them, so I deleted them, then I ran my spybot and found something bad :/...system1060. I opened that up inside spybot and there is that svchost.exe in my windows folder again and also hkey_local_machine. I opened IE and autoseach.cc hijacked my homepage again...Here is the spybot log

    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Roar: Bookmark (Internet Explorer: Shaun) (Bookmark, nothing done)

System1060: Program file (File, nothing done)
    C:\WINDOWS\svchost.exe

System1060: Autorun settings (Registry value, nothing done)
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\SVCHOST

Windows Media Player: Anonymous ID (Registry value, nothing done)
    HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-682003330-412668190-1177238915-1004\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Preferences\SendUserGUID=B=0

    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Spybot can't get rid of it, pc-cillin can't detect it...any ideas how to get rid of system1060? Is pest patrol any good?

k, so I fixed autosearch.cc with hijack this again and here is the new log. So far no traces of svchost.exe in windows, no autoseach.cc, no system1060 in spybot. I think we got it! \o/
