Would it work just fine using a desktop with Win 7 64bit hosting the domain for a small home network when there would be 2 dekstops with XP 32bit and a laptop with Win7 32bit?

why do you want to that exactly ?
are you trying to host your own website domain ? if so , check with your ISP. As they often do not allow you to host Web sites on a domestic service - you would need to upgrade to a business line

If you want to just keep the network internal and say, use the 64bit machine as a media centre and file server, then all the machines will talk to each other no problem. XP will talk to this win7 64bit machine. Though if you are planning on running it constantly then I suggest a different operating system as win7 doesn't run so well after about 4-5 days of being on.
