    In a word: SPAM

I would suggest programming your filter in Hotmail.

Even better, swich to Yahoo Mail. Never, ever any spam. And, you don't even have to configure anything. Why people stick with Hotmail is beyond my comprehension.
It's slow, too crowded and full of spam.

My yahoo mail account gets over 500 spam messages a day. There is no "spam free" email provider.

    Jtoast's "no spam" method.

    1) Have a single personal address that NO ONE other than very close friends and family use. Make sure that they know NEVER to give it out, send funny little postcards, etc. to this address.

    2) Have a second address for things like online forums, general correspondance, etc. Changed/updated once every year or 2.

    3) Have a spam address you use for online newsletters, etc. This one can be changed as needed without losing much.

    4) If your main personal address is a hotmail address, set the filters to ONLY allow emails from your allowed list. Everything else goes to spam. Add people as needed.

    5) Use something like outlook to check all of the emails at once and then sort them into folders via rules.

Funny, I have multiple Yahoo Mail accounts that I use for EVERYTHING, even jokes and "funny little postcards" and I have zero spam, really!

I really don't know how you get those. Perhaps they have your address since way before Yahoo began using a better advanced filter.

I think you may not have been careful enough...:D

Possibly. I've had my yahoo account since sometime in the late 90's.

I give out my Yahoo addresses to everybody or anything on the Web and I still don't receive spam. Of course, I also never subscribe to ad offers either.
