    Hello,

    [I'm using Windows XP, without the latest SP2.]

    Yesterday I uninstalled some software. Today, when my computer starts, it is not starting in "Normal" mode.

    I would like to remove 2 Startup Items from the list that comes up when I look at:
    START --> RUN --> msconfig
    System Configuration Utilitites -->Start Tab

    One of these items (programs) is a graphics pad driver -- I returned the pad (and uninstalled the software), so I don't need this at all.

    The other item is very useful PDF software, but I don't need it to load every time my computer starts.

    Thanks very much for help about this!

    Go start>>Run>>type msconfig click ok then click the startup tab and find the program and uncheck it

    Thanks Bonk. ...

    I did that, I have 2 boxes unchecked. But it's still causing my computer to start up NOT in the Normal mode.

    What I want to do is to remove those 2 items from the list under the startup tab. How do I remove them from the list, which -- I think -- would let my computer start up "normally".

    Thanks ... RB

    What programs do you want to uninstall??

    Also go to msconfig and you should see a button for normal startup , make sure it is checked

    in the general tab,
    click selective start up

    in the start up tab remove the tick from the ones
    you don't want to run

    click apply and restart

    if the items haven't got a tick and you just want to
    remove the names from the list

    I use this little freebie

    use the program I gave a link to to remove the one you no longer have (atw)

    I may be wrong but , the other one (pdf) without the tick isn't starting up

    that's why there isn't a tick in it .

    Thanks, guys, for the expert advice.
    In 3 seconds, that little utility removed both items from the startup list. ...

    Tonight, I'll make link to this Tech Support Guy site on the youthtopia.net home page.

    Thanks again ... RB
