if your computer has a S-video output and your tv has a S-video
input then a S-video cable is needed.

for anything other you need to describe what your tv
has for video inputs and what your computer has
for video outputs.

also it would help to describe what you want
to see on your tv. if you want to watch a
video file or view still photos as a slide
show then that may be useful. if you
want to view other computer screens
then the outcome may not be as good
as desired.

alot depends on the size of the tv and
what kind of display it is.

some details on make and model of
tv and computer and what you want
to do are needed to help answer question.

I just have a dell laptop latitude d810 with what i think is an s-video output and another output that looks like the one that you would plug a regular computer monitor into with screw ins on each side. The tv is just a standard 27" tv with the standard red/white/yellow inputs and no s-video inputs.

check your manual make sure it is an s-video output.

visualize the plug that will go into it or if the
manual has a drawing, that helps you in
buying what you need.

you can get 's-video to 3 rca' adapter cords at electronics
stores (any place that has tv, vcr) or computer store.
you will find probably between $5 and $10.

showing an image slideshow or video images
from your computer may be ok. showing
other computer screens doesn't look as good.
