Whenever I go to Office Express, the preview pane shows with the full e-mail. I'd prefer to see just the headlines before deciding to open messages. However, when I go to "layout" on the "view" menu, the lower half of the box, for preview pane, is already completely grayed out and unresponsive. Anyone know how else to eliminate the preview pane?

Using OE6, with XPsp2.

TIA

Thanks -- I know that routine, and it worked fine in earlier versions. The problem now is that with my current XP os and OE6 is that the box is already unchecked but the whole preveiw pane dialog is completely grayed out so there is no way of hitting the checkbox at all -- what I am asking is whether there is any other workaround to eliminate the preview pane.

Hi hleegee

See if adding the Preview button to the toolbar works.
Right click on the toolbar in Outlook Express,
Select: Customize
Select the Preview button and Add it.

If it is already showing in the right hand pane of current buttons, select the Preview button and move it Up to adjust its location on the toolbar where it is convenient for you to access it.

Let us know if that works for you or not.

Now that you have control over the Preview Pane, is it still showing as greyed out in:
View > Layout ?

Thanks for posting back and letting us know what worked! (y)
