Solved: How to block some website from my pc winxp.

    Hi, my pc have two users, i am using windows xp pro. i dont want my computer can browser this website www.winningft.com, whatever i try to open internet explorer to edit on "Restricted sites" there i add this website to the zone, Ok. Than i try to brow this website see whether blocked success or not, but the system keep on change the name?? www2.winningft.com, www3.winningft.com..... totaly cannot block! Than i ping on the name all are not same ip address! Please help me to block this all gambling website.

    Hi athan thank your help, ya this side very usefull, but i found a problem is if i direct using the ip address it cannot block?? example:

    127.0.0.1 202.71.102.150

    if i use ip address cannot block that website.
    but if i use the name than ok?? like www.winningft.com

    The problem in your case is that even if you block
    www.abc.com, it routes through www1.abc.com or www2.abc.com and so on.

    I'd suggest that if you really want it blocked the try a commercial solution there are plenty of tools available that will do the trick !

    however it may just be worth this :
    make the additions like this
    127.0.0.1 www.winningft.com
    127.0.0.1 www1.winningft.com
    127.0.0.1 www2.winningft.com
    127.0.0.1 www3.winningft.com
    127.0.0.1 www4.winningft.com
    127.0.0.1 www5.winningft.com

    make sure you separate them with a tab !

    Then log out and log back in as a normal user and then see if that does the trick for you or not !
