Recently got an Olypmus VN960 Digital Voice Recorder that records in WAV format. I can transfer files to a computer and play them back OK. However, I would like to convert them to MP3s for smaller file size.

Right clicking on file in Win Explorer brings up the Win Audio Converter which offers to convert to MP3. When I try, it gives the error message "The file cannot be converted because it uses an unrecognized codec."

The troubleshooting section of the player software manual says it uses the IMA ADPCM CODEC and tells how to check that it is selected. It appears to be properly selected.

    What now?

Try any freeware site, like www.snapfiles.com and look for a converter. There are lots of free ones.
