    Hello,

    Win98 user here,

I installed some software that adds a menu item when you right-click on a folder or My Computer. I uninstalled it and the menu item still remains!!! I don't know how to disable it.

Does anyone know how to get rid of something like this?

    Hi nosebleed

    Download hijackthis

    http://www.spywareinfo.com/downloads.php#det

Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

After the scan has finished the "scan" button will turn into a "save log" button

save the log file and paste it here

X-Setup will do that and a lot more. Naturally, it's free. :)

Actually the program is Visual CD. It's a folder catalogging program.

Everytime I rightclick on a folder an option in the menu says "Catalog with Visual CD", but I have this program uninstalled.

I would think you will have to delete the registry key - but I'm sorry I can't remember the path - I'm sure someone will post it for you

If you don't mind going into your registry.....
Go to start>run. Type in regedit. Navigate to .....
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\SHELLEX\CONTEXTMENUHANDLERS

Scroll down to the item you want to remove. Right click on it, then click delete.

    Hope this helps.

Actually, I found it by searching the registry for "Catalog with Visual CD"

    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell\Catalog with Visual CD

I just deleted it and now it's gone!

    Thanks a bunch!
