Is there a way of recording music I receive on internet radio stations, especially those from places like Switzerland or France? They broadcast classical music that I play through my audio system. I could record the music on a cassette recorder from the tape output of my audio amplifier, but I would prefer to record directly from my computer to my harddrive or to a flash drive or to a CD ROM. Is recording for personal use from internet radio illegal or a copyright infringement? You need not answer the legal question because you may not be able to give legal advice.

Thread reopened. It appears that at present it is legal to record from the radio for personal use.

Apparently, even the music industry has had no objections to people making analog recordings. But they have sued people before for making digital recordings, arguing that since they are perfect copies, they can easily be redistributed. But the case so far has not been decided.

I find no way of downloading streaming audio from my browser. Do the "plus" copies of Realplayer facilitate doing that? Thanks for your reply.

I solved my own problem! By downloading as MP3, I was able to record live music using the free version of RealPlayer. It is now a file on my hard-drive.
Thanks!
