Hello

What is the file extension? Also did you restart your computer after applying the registry change?

A possible solution would be to delete the file association, and then re-register it.

1. Click Start and then click Run.
2. In the box type 'control folders' (no quotes) and then click OK.
3. Select the File Types tab.
4. Scroll down until you find FLA in the list.
5. Select it and then click Delete.
6. Click Apply.
7. Click the New button.
8. In the file extension box, enter FLA and then click OK.
9. Click Apply and then click OK.

Can you please elaborate. What do you mean by you cannot remove the FLA extension?

Is the FLA extension not listed there?

@managed: I believe that website is for duplicate entries on the context menu themselves, and can't say it will work for the Open With list, but hey, you never know :p

Okay we can try removing the key from the registry manually.

1. Open registry editor (Start ->run -> regedit)
2. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts
3. Delete the FLA key.
4. Restart your computer.

Follow steps 7,8 & 9 in post #5 to recreate the FLA extension.

bhanuk,

Just a quick question. Are you 100% sure it is the FLA files and not SWF files with this issue?

Hi Nick, you're right it is meant for the context menu itself, I realised this and deleted the post, can you still see it ?
