I was running my HP F4580 in Win 7 and there was a program that monitored the printer ink levels, trouble shot, and allowed me to scan over the wireless link.

When I upgraded to Win 8/32 I had to update the driver for the printer - that works -, but I have lost the HP information program, I can't initiate scans over the LAN or scan to email.

What must I do to restore full functionality?

Yes, I did that last month. I will see if I missed any functions and try a reinstall.

    Thanks.

Not so good. After 8 hours it is still showing 'installing'.

Manage a fresh download, same file but the installation routine displayed more completely and I have full functionality. The new file, same date etc, is slightly smaller than the one downloaded last month.

    Thanks for the suggestion.
