    Hello!

    Thanks in advance!

    M problem:
I had accidentally deleted the printer icon from "Printer and Faxes" by right clicking it and selecting "Delete."
I only did this because the printer had a print job that wouldn't go away after many attempts.
But when I try re-installing it by downloading the correct driver for it, it would only load up initially with the status bar indicating the unpackaging of the installation, but after it reaches 100%, it wouldn't continue onward.
I kept launching the installation almost 7 times now, but the same result happens.

    Solutions I've tried
I have contemplated on doing a system restore, but I had not created a starting point.
I have downloaded their standard driver installation instead of the full package installation, but the same problem arises.
I have went into "Printer and Faxes," and selected "Add Printer," but it doesn't have HP PSC 1315v All in One. I have tried updating the list, but it returns and error message.

    My computing environment:
Windows XP, HP PSC 1315v All in One.

    Thanks in advance!

Unplug the usb cable for the printer.
Go to start/control panel/add remove programs.
Uninstall any software and drivers for the printer.
    Restart the computer.
    Start the driver installation.
Don't plug in the usb cable until the installation
    prompts you to.

    Hello!

    Thanks for the suggestion!

I have tried that already, but will take another shot at it again.

I am pretty sure it will not work.

If you check device manager and it shows a printer
right click it and click uninstall, then restart and try
again if the above doesn't work.
It sounds like the installation is hanging at the
point where you should have to plug in the cable and turn
the printer on so windows detects it.

    Hi Leroys,

    Thanks again!

Taking your suggestion, I have taken a look at the device manager.
There were 3 question marks right next to the drivers associated with it, so I uninstalled it.
Then I have initiated the installation once again.
But it does the same thing: displays the % status bar, and once it gets to 100%, it does nothing.
    I might have to restart.

OK,with the printer plugged in,go back to device manager.
Click on anything and an icon at the top should appear that
    scans for hardware changes.
Click that first and see if it detects new hardware.
If so,let it search for the driver.
If not, right click the printer device with the ! by it and
click update driver and try letting it search.

It is also possible to try to manually update the driver.
Check the driver files you downloaded and see if
there is a driver folder in there.
You can right click the device in device manager and click
update driver, then select the loacation and browse to the
    driver folder.

One other thing to check is right click the setup program
click properties and see if the download was locked.
If it was, there would be an unlock button on the
    general tab.

    Hi Leroys,

    Thanks!

Yes, I have been doing that, but the Found New Hardware Installation Wizard cannot for some reason "use" the driver I have downloaded.
Or more accurately, the installation software I downloaded.

The automatic search does not work, and even when manually selecting, it does not detect the installation program.

On a manual install, you don't want to look for the installation
program, you would look for an inf file in a driver folder if
    there is one.

    Hello!

    Thanks!

Yes, it looks for the inf, but the downloaded software didn't come with any inf.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

Might look to see if the software is extracting to an hp
    folder on the windows drive.
    Might be a driver there.

    Hi Leroys!

Thank you so much for helping me out for the past couple days.
I have finally found a solution.
Instead of double clicking the installation, I right clicked on it
and selected to extract the files!
From there, I was able to go inside the extracted file, and manually double click on the setup program.
I also found the inf file too, and everything is working correctly now.

    Thank you so much Leroys!
