The article said to go to the below link for a patch until Microsoft comes out with a patch Tuesday, Jan 10......I'm not sure what to do, the page is confusing.

Should I download this on my computers and other computers at office or wait until the Microsoft patch next week?

based on the following found on another trusted forum. i would hold off on the temp patch. But the decision is yours.

SANS / The Internet Storm Center are offering a patch to protect users from the problem. The reputable ISC are putting their backing behind it, and without any other good option, users might be wise to install their patch rather than waiting until the 10th. You can download it here (msi). Once again, the patch is un-official, and is not endorsed by Microsoft (or Neowin for that matter). However, if you trust Microsoft for security, you'll probably be ok trusting this.

updated link .... from Neowin. http://www.neowin.net/index.php?act=view&id=31951&category=main

why not just wait for the patch from Microsoft that is coming out on 10 Jan 06.

Microsoft has completed development of the security update for the vulnerability. The security update is now being localized and tested to ensure quality and application compatibility. Microsoft’s goal is to release the update on Tuesday, January 10, 2006, as part of its monthly release of security bulletins. This release is predicated on successful completion of quality testing.

The update will be released worldwide simultaneously in 23 languages for all affected versions of Windows once it passes a series of rigorous testing procedures. It will be available on Microsoft’s Download Center, as well as through Microsoft Update and Windows Update. Customers who use Windows’ Automatic Updates feature will be delivered the fix automatically.

OK, thanks. I just didn't know if it was imperative to download the patch to protect us until microsofts patch comes out. I shall take your advice and wait.

Thanks again and kindest regards,
Christine
