Hi everyone. I am using Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.8 and I have this spyware on it that I can't get rid of. It keeps showing a pop-up every 5-10 minutes with an ad on it. I know it is spyware or adware because it comes up no matter what site I am on. I have tried using Lavasoft Adaware to get rid of it but that did not work. Can you please help me get rid of this annoying adware/spyware?

    • Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
    • Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
    • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
    • Click on Install.
    • It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
    • Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
    • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
    • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
    • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
    • DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

There is my Hijack This log file. While you're at it, could you please instruct me on how to remove anything from Internet Explorer 7 that is not required for it to work. Thanks.

Close all applications and browser windows before you click "fix checked".

Restart the machine and post a new hijackthis log.

The problem has already been fixed. Thanks! I did go ahead and remove what you told me to though.
