I am trying to buy a DC Socket for a Sony Vaio Laptop.
The part is only currently available in the US and none of the suppliers will sell to the UK.
    The part is available at:
    http://ultimate.partsearch.com/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductSKU=1219483&ProductType=ACCS&ModelID=502015
    http://tigerdirect.partsearch.com/P...ctSKU=1219483&ProductType=ACCS&ModelID=502015
    http://www.sparepartswarehouse.com/Sony,Laptop,Part,182760611.aspx

I need someone to volunteer to get it for me and forward it to the UK. I will pay all costs via paypal or mastercard.

No. I have found ONE place in the UK. The price they are quoting is seventy GB pounds (over 100 dollars).

I may take you up on that offer Derek.

Good Morning Chaps, yes Dave I have the same problem here in Australia getting odd parts. It is ridiculous where some two dollar part costs a hundred dollars or so and is only available from the distributor outlet here.
I don't know why these organisations don't do overseas online sales, probably because of the mark-ups their fanchisees get on transactions and their dealer contracts. (corruption)
It caused an enormous shift toward Ying-tong-yickle-i-po systems here, from so-called "branded" items.
The reccomendation is to avoid many brands simply because of this!
That is very nice of you JD.
    Cheers, qldit.

How are you planning on working this, paying for it yourself then having it shipped to someone in the US, then have them forward it to you?

Ah, that's where the iffy bit lies. I have not been able to sign up with them to even pay for it.
I would need someone to register with them and buy it. Then ship it on to me and I'll pay them.
Perhaps one of the people with a small business or doing ebay stuff.
Actually that would be a way of doing it. Someone buy it for me and put it up on ebay as a "buy it now" with a nonesense description and let me buy it from there.

I've just been quoted 58 dollars just for the shipping!!
    That cannot be right.

Dave, not sure if this is the supplier that you tried that wanted 70 pounds, but I thought I would throw it your way.

Let me know if you still need a contact in the states, I do alot of ebay stuff and I would be willing to help you out.

Thanks I've talked to them. They do not have the part.
I'm waiting on the senior salesman at Union Electronics. He is going to try to get the shipping cost down. If he cannot, I'l be taking one of up your offers.
