    Hi,

I would appreciate some help and advice, please.

I have a Gigabyte G31M-ES2L motherboard and I am pretty sure the BIOS is up to date with the last reformat. (32 bit, 4gb RAM (3.25 usable), Windows 7 pro)

The processor is currently at 2.7ghz dual core, but I'd like to upgrade it to 3.2 dual core. Being a graphics designer, I need a little more juice from my system.

I don't want to overclock the current processor.

I'd be really grateful if an expert on here can tell me whether I am able to upgrade my processor, considering the specs.

    Thank you for reading this.

Yeah, I'll stick with dual core for now, although quad is very tempting.....:)

Not really. For all of $30 more than the price of the wolfdale dual core, you can buy an amd 955 AND the mb. It uses the same ddr2 ram so that the only expense would the the extra $30 or so.
    MB
    CPU

There is no problem with intel however if you want a quad, this is a relatively cheap way of doing so without the high price of the intel yorkfield.
