On my control panel there is an AvantGo Connect icon - I can not remove it by add and remove programs nor will it delete with the delete key - any suggestions on how I can remove/delete.

    Thanks.

    Go to Start/Find/Files or Folders.

Type *.cpl in the 'named' box (don't forget the *. )

All files found with the *.cpl extension will be Control Panel applets, and it won't be too hard to indentify the one you want removed.

    Good luck,

    Hi Stuart,

But if it's in Control Panel, it must be a *.cpl file, or it wouldn't be there.

Here are some common *.cpl panel files

Rule them out, and see what's left. It must be somewhere:

    Common Control Panel files
    File name Function

    Access.cpl Accessibility options

    Appwiz.cpl Add/remove programs

    Desk.cpl Display properties

    FindFast.cpl FindFast (MS-Office)

    Inetcpl.cpl Internet properties

    Intl.cpl Regional properties

    Joy.cpl Joystick properties

    Main.cpl Mouse properties

    Mlcfg32.cpl MS-Exchange services

    Mmsys.cpl Multimedia properties

    Modem.cpl Modem properties

    Netcpl.cpl Network properties

    Obdccp32.cpl 32-bit ODBC

    Password.cpl Password properties

    Sysdm.cpl System properties/

    add hardware

    Themes.cpl Plus! Desktop themes

    TimeDate.cpl Date/time properties

    Cheers,

Nice list Tony. To test if you have the correct file just rename the .CPL file.

    i.e., .CPX

Then open the Control Panel, if it is the wrong one just rename it back to the old name. The Control Panel must be closed and re-opened each time, so it is refreshed.

Found the .cpl file for AvantGo.

As always this is the best site.

    Thanks again.
