Operating System XP Home IE 6:

I posted a similar post several months ago with no response from anyone!
I have several websites on my favorites list that show a window regarding IE Script Error when I use them.

Example: An error has occured in the script on this page
    Error: invalid argument
Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?
    YES/NO

Also another window will pop up:
This page has an unspecified potential security flaw.
    Would you like to continue?
    YES/NO

I have gone to Microsoft Help (What is an IE Script Error Topic) and tried to repair the error following their instructions with no resolution.

Can anyone in the Forum give me some help with this problem?

    Thanks, Tom

Can you post some screen shots of the error when it happens?

    Thanks!

    (02-25) 17:45 PST DENVER (AP) --

A good Samaritan who pushed three people out of the path of a pickup before he was struck and injured has been ticketed for jaywalking. Family members say 58-year-old Jim Moffett and another man were helping two elderly women cross a busy Denver street in a snowstorm when he was hit Friday night.

Moffett suffered bleeding in the brain, broken bones, a dislocated shoulder and a possible ruptured spleen. He remained hospitalized Wednesday in serious but stable condition.

The Colorado State Patrol issued the citation. Trooper Ryan Sullivan told the Rocky Mountain News that despite Moffett's intentions, jaywalking caused the accident.

The other good Samaritan was also cited for jaywalking. The pickup driver was cited with careless driving causing injury.

Sullivan says the two elderly women haven't been cited but the investigation is ongoing.

"It's a horrible tragedy," he said.

Sullivan said Moffett and the others weren't in a crosswalk, but said he didn't know why the bus stop was in an area without one.

I "think" the error means that the page was not composed in a way that IE can understand.

Which SP of XP & of IE?

    Open IE.
Across the top, left click "tools" > internet options.
    Advanced tab.
Do you have check in either of the "disable script debugging"? If not, check them, left click "ok"
    Close IE
    Open IE
Try to view the web page.

    Screen shot:
On your keyboard, look for a key labeled "print screen" OR "PrtSc" OR "PRN SCN" or some variation.
When you want to capture that which is displayed, press the print screen button.
Open Paint [ start > programs / all programs > accessories > paint [ rarely MS Paint]
    Maximize Paint
    left click "edit"
    Left click "paste"
    file > save as.
Save the file to any location of your choice.
File name: your choice, for example: "filename"
save as type: left click down pointing arrow. Left click jpg / jpeg
    Left click "save" / "ok".

The file name has now been saved as filename.jpg [ or filename.jpeg ].

    Return to the thread.
    Left click "go advanced".

    Left click "manage attachments"
    left click "browse"
browse to the location, on your computer, where you saved "filename.jpg"
    Left click filename.jpg
    left click "open"
    left click Upload"
close window of upload screen after the file has been uploaded.

enter text into the reply area.
    left click "submit"

    See.... Rainforest's steps.....

Also, by a screen shot, I meant a PICTURE of the page or window.

The best way to achieve this is to:

    Open the program
    Open whatever causes the error
Then press PRINT SCRN/SysRq key (located at the top of standard keyboards 3rd from the right side)
    Click on START
    Click on RUN
    type in the OPEN space
    MSPAINT
    OK button
    In Paint
    Click on EDIT
    Click on paste
Then save the file to a location you can find it.
Upload it here in the forum

    Thanks!

I am sorry-I have followed all the instructions but I can not get the file to upload after numerous attempts!

Thank you for you efforts. I have decided to abandon my attempt to resolve this problem as I can live with it!

    Thanks again gentlemen.

Did you save the file as a .bmp or .jpg / .jpeg?

Bmp / Bitmap files are VERY large, compared to jpg files.

    And ladies, presumably?

Rainforest123: The upload file was in jpg format.144 whatevers in size, well below what the upload max. indicated!

Very frustrating that after I figured out how to get to the upload point with your and Pinntech's help, I can't get the file uploaded!

Maybe I'll try again tomorrow when I am less frustrated!

    Thanks,

What is your internet connection speed? You can check at www.dslreports.com/speedtest

What is the size of the file? Go to the file location. RIGHT click said file. Left click properties.

Yes, take your time and proceed when you are prepared.

If a message appears, take a screen shot & send it to us.
    Ha Ha.

I have attached 2 .jpg examples, to test the system.

    Take care.

Then your problem with uploading is not connection speed, nor is it file size / type.

Thanks for the information about the script debugging.

    SP = service pack.

Go into the event viewer and see if you have an option for IE, on the left. If so, left click on it; then on the right, look for warnings and errors. If no errors, provide info about the warnings. If errors provide info.

    start > run
    type: eventvwr.exe
    OK
    Maximize screen.
RIGHT click an error [ or a warning ], left click properties.

It will most useful if you provide info about events that are noted at the time the IE scripting message appears.

To gather info, left click the little rectangular button, on the right, that has 2 pieces of paper. That will copy the info to your clipboard. You can paste it into a thread reply, or if multiple, paste into notepad.

    *******************
Please provide the EXACT error message you receive.

Does it occur at this forum?

Please provide the steps or link to the page for steps you took [ #1 above ] to address your issue, m.

I do NOT want you to provide, at this point, addresses of pages you view because anything you post at ANY site can be gathered & assembled to create a profile of you. With enough data gathered, from various sources, we lose our anonymity.
