    Hello again,

Problem: IE6 just flashes on the screen for a second and dissappears. So far I have reinstalled it from the XP disc, done a "dirty install" of windows, diabled third

party browser extensions from control panel, changed the registry explorer value from 1 to 0 , and reloaded explorer, run sfc /scannow. Using the downloaded IE6

from msn doesn't work as it says I have a more current version installed and won't load the new one. Even with IE6 removed i can't connect to the msn update sites

to get new components. Virus scans with different clients are all clean. Spysweeper found a few things but nothing relevant. AAW appears clean as well. The good

news is that I mainly use Mozillla anyway. Please assist if possible.

Following are HJT and AAW logs. I set AAW in accordance with your recommendations, full scan no MRUs etc.

    Thanks.....D

Note: The registry value identified in AAW is associated with Script Sentry and is benign.
Note 2: This problem occured 2 weeks ago and some combination of the above seemed to fix it until today.

Close all applications and browser windows before you click "fix checked".

Your Ad-Aware definitions are up to date but your build is not. Current build is 1.05

    thanks

I deleted those entries except the ICQ things because i had to move some things around in ICQ program files to get the program to work like i want and those HJT entries just reflected changes i wanted..

But, I finally fixed IE6. This involved several reinstalls, .dlll re-registrations, sfc /scannow, a dirty install of xp.......and what finally seemed to work...or at least what was happening at the moment it worked......I went to control panel/internet options/advanced and just restored IE6 to all default settings. (I don't know if this influenced the outcome because I only run IE6 with the highest possible security in almost all categories and have for 2 years...and it never acted this way) At that time I had unloaded all mal-sxcript monitors and firewalls. Anyway IE6 chose that moment to yield to my jovian will and started working again.

    thanks again....tom
