So, I read this forums realtively regularly, and they have helped alot in the past.

I have a similar problem as Magician did in a solved thread, which is iexplorer.exe is running as resident in my processes and like Magician, each time I end process it will return, also MSN messenger is running (even after I have uninstalled it via Add/Remove Programs utility) and I can end process but when I reboot it will return.

I have run a virus scan/clean with the following applications-
    Panda Securities IS
    Ad-ware Pro
    Spywareblaster
    Spybot S&D

    I have also utilized:
    LSP fix
    CW shredder

I attempted run http://www.newdotnet.com/removal.html, however that page is down.

I have attempted the above in safe mode, with my router switched off and system restore disabled...

    sigh...

any help would be greatly appreicated.

    Hi, Crimxan :)

    Welcome.

Please download the OTMoveIt2 by OldTimer.
    • Save it to your desktop.

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

    O21 - SSODL: SvcLauncher - {E3005DFF-5831-BF2C-D862-6A70A4DC3CF0} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\rxgnbuqvu\Director_ddwljhae.dll
    O22 - SharedTaskScheduler: SvcLauncher - {E3005DFF-5831-BF2C-D862-6A70A4DC3CF0} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\rxgnbuqvu\Director_ddwljhae.dll

Now close all windows and browsers, other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked.

    Close Hijackthis.
    • Please double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it. (Vista users, please right click on OTMoveit2.exe and select "Run as an Administrator")
    • Copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

    • Return to OTMoveIt2, right click in the "Paste List of Files/Folders to Move" window (under the light Yellow bar) and choose Paste.
    • Click the red Moveit! button.
    • A log of files and folders moved will be created in the c:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles folder in the form of Date and Time (mmddyyyy_hhmmss.log). Please open this log in Notepad and post its contents in your next reply.
    • Close OTMoveIt2
If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.

[IMG]Download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) from here or here to your Desktop. Note: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges.

OMG!!!! I have been unable to get to a computer with net access on my pc since Friday, Just this morning I decided to dump everything and reformat. (I am writing this from work... :( )

So i don't know if this would have helped, but I am going to make sure I have the apps you listed in my /antispyware&antivirusApps folder for future use.

I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to reply, and I will make a donation to the site simply because its just a great resource that should get the support it deserves.

Sorry to learn that, but sometimes is the only way.

The following is a list of tools and utilities that I like to suggest to people. This list is full of great tools and utilities to help you understand how you got infected and how to keep from getting infected again.
    1. Spybot Search & Destroy - Uber powerful tool which can search and annhilate nasties that make it onto your system. Now with an Immunize section that will help prevent future infections.
    2. AdAware - Another very powerful tool which searches and kills nasties that infect your system. AdAware and Spybot Search & Destroy compliment each other very well.
    3. SpywareBlaster - Great prevention tool to keep nasties from installing on your system.
    4. ZonedOut + IE-SpyAd - puts over 5000 sites in your restricted zone so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all.
    5. CleanUP! - Cleans temporary files from IE and Windows, empties the recycle bin and more. Great tool to help speed up your computer and knock out those nasties that like to reside in the temp folders.
    6. Windows Updates - It is very important to make sure that both Internet Explorer and Windows are kept current with the latest critical security patches from Microsoft. To do this just start Internet Explorer and select Tools > Windows Update, and follow the online instructions from there.
    7. Google Toolbar - Free google toolbar that allows you to use the powerful Google search engine from the bar, but also blocks pop up windows.
    8. Trillian or Miranda-IM - These are Malware free Instant Messenger programs which allow you to connect to multiple IM services in one program! (AOL, Yahoo, ICQ, IRC, MSN)
    9. ERUNT (Emergency Recovery Utility NT) allows you to keep a complete backup of your registry and restore it when needed. The standard registry backup options that come with Windows back up most of the registry but not all of it. ERUNT however creates a complete backup set, including the Security hive and user related sections. ERUNT is easy to use and since it creates a full backup, there are no options or choices other than to select the location of the backup files. The backup set includes a small executable that will launch the registry restore if needed.
    10. Recovery Console - Recent trends appear to indicate that future infections will include attacks to the boot sector of the computer. The installation of the Recovery Console in the computer will be our only defense against this threat. For more information and steps to install the Recovery Console see This Article. Should you need assistance in installing the Recovery Console, please do not hesitate to ask.
    11. Read and follow the suggestions given at this web site by Miekiemoes http://users.telenet.be/bluepatchy/miekiemoes/prevention.html .
To find out more information about how you got infected in the first place and some great guidelines to follow to prevent future infections you can read this article by Tony Klein.

Click Here for some advise from our security Experts.

Please use the thread's Tools and mark this thread as "Solved".

    Best wishes! [IMG]

    Hello JSR,

Just a quick question about the Recovery Console, I followed the link and then the directions stated. However, when I type in the command in the "run" window I recieve a message stating that it is unable to run setup since the version of WinXP on my machine is newer that the one I am trying to install... (paraphrased of course). I didn't see anything in the article that addresses this. Any suggestions?

Oh btw I am too newb to send pm's as of yet...

    thanks for any help.

    Hi, Crimxan :)

It could be due to the upgrade to SP2. You can use Combofix to do this.

Please download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.

**Note: In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download. It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**

    Go to Microsoft's website => http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310994
Select the download that's appropriate for your Operating System. Download this file to your desktop, next to Combofix.

Now close all open windows and programs, then drag the setup package onto ComboFix.exe and drop it. Follow the prompts to start ComboFix and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Recovery Console. When completed, a log named CF_RC.txt will open. Please post the contents of that log.

When the Recovery Console is installed you will see a menu at startup where you can select your Windows Installation and the Recovery Console. The Recovery Console is an important tool and should be used by qualified users.
