    Hi, Welcome to TSG!!

Please make your statements in clear english.

    • Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
    • Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
    • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
    • Click on Install.
    • It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
    • Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
    • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
    • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
    • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
    • DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Go to add/remove programs and remove MyWebSearch / SmileyCentral.

Please download (save) SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) to your desktop.
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop. Select all of the contents and Extract them
to a new folder called SmitfraudFix.
Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

You should print out these instructions, or copy them to a NotePad file for reading while in Safe Mode, because you will not be able to connect to the Internet to read from this site.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
    • Restart your computer
    • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
    • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
    • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
    • Choose your usual account.
Once in Safe Mode, open the SmitfraudFix folder again and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press "Enter" to delete infected files.

You will be prompted: "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry?"; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.

The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter".

The tool may need to restart your computer to finish the cleaning process; if it doesn't, please restart it into Normal Windows.

A text file will appear onscreen, with results from the cleaning process; please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

The report can also be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

Warning: running option #2 on a non infected computer will remove your Desktop background.

Please post the C:\rapport.txt and a new HJT log in your next reply. Also run HijackThis and click Open the Misc Tools section
Click Open Uninstall Manager, Save list and save the log to your Desktop.
A list of programs will open in Notepad. Post the contents of the log here in your next reply.

[IMG] Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system. Please follow these steps to remove older version of Java components and upgrade the application. This is NOT supported for use in 9x or ME and probably will not install in those systems

    Ugrading Java:
    • Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 update 3.
    • Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications".
    • Click the "Download" button to the right.
    • Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
    • The page will refresh.
    • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
    • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
    • Go to Start > Control Panel, double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
    • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
    • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
    • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java version.
    • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
    • Then from your desktop double-click on the download to install the newest version.

    • Launch Hijackthis.

    Security Software CheckPassed details Definition
Antivirus software and an Internet firewall protect your PC from viruses and unauthorized Internet and network access. Viruses are malicious self-replicating programs that infect your files and documents with the purpose of causing data loss and other forms of harm to your PC. Without a firewall, an attacker such as a hacker or identity thief can easily gain remote access to your PC and steal information, send unsolicited email, destroy files and data, or use your system to launch attacks on other computers.
    Security Zone SettingsFailed details Definition
Web content security zone browser settings control the actions that are authorized for a particular zone of the Internet or an intranet.

    Problem
Insufficient security settings have been detected in a web content zone on your browser. These settings can create vulnerabilities if not reset to an appropriate default security level.
    Windows Security SettingsFailed details Definition

    Optimization Checkup Analysis
    Internet/System PerformanceFailed details Definition
Internet and overall system performance is affected by a multitude of important configuration settings in Windows that are not optimized by default. An unoptimized Internet configuration can lead to significant performance problems when downloading files or browsing the web. In addition, Your PC requires ample levels of free and contiguous system RAM in order to perform at optimum speeds.

    Problem
Your current Internet and system configuration settings are not optimized for maximum performance. Your PC is most likely unable to download files and browse the web at peak speeds.
    System ClutterFailed details Definition

    Problem
A total of 173 MB of system clutter was found on your PC. These junk and redundant files are wasting valuable hard drive space, robbing system performance, and causing potential reliability problems.
    Windows StartupFailed details Definition
If Windows appears to take longer than it used to when it starts or loads, it is almost always caused by an overload of unnecessary and in some cases dangerous programs that have been configured to automatically start whenever your PC does. In most cases these auto-starting programs were added without your knowledge and are extremely difficult to remove or disable.

    Problem
A total of 1 dangerous or unnecessary program(s) were detected that have been configured to start automatically with Windows. These programs are slowing your system and in many cases endangering your data, privacy, and security.
    Repair Checkup Analysis
    Hard Drive HealthFailed details Definition
With use, hard drives can begin to suffer from a variety of problems that, if not repaired, may ultimately cause error messages, file corruption, loss of data, sudden program crashes, shutdowns, or restarts, and even complete system failure.

    Problem
Hard drive problems have been detected that can cause data loss, performance bottlenecks and overall loss of system speed.
    Invalid Uninstallers and
    Broken ShortcutsFailed details Definition
Sometimes after installing a program it becomes corrupted and cannot be removed using the Windows Add or Remove Programs tool. In these cases, there is no clear method of removing the unwanted software from your system.

Broken shortcuts are links in Windows that are intended to start a program or access a web page but no longer work correctly.

    Problem
There are currently at least 2 broken shortcuts and invalid uninstallers on your system. Broken shortcuts result in error messages or unexpected (and sometimes dangerous) behavior when used, and should be repaired immediately. Invalid uninstallers result in annoying errors and, most importantly, the inability to remove programs you want to get rid of.
    Registry ProblemsFailed details Definition
The Windows Registry is a critical system database that stores configuration settings for programs, hardware, user accounts, and other important components of your PC. Over time, the Registry can become riddled with orphaned or erroneous settings and other superfluous data that causes unexpected program errors, sudden system shutdowns, loss of data, and general system instability.

    Problem
Your Windows Registry currently has at least 14 problems caused by invalid or unnecessary configuration settings. Registry problems are a common cause of sporadic PC errors, performance loss, system shutdowns, blue screens, and other stubborn issues.
