    Hi all

I just installed Vista SP1 that Windows live Update downloaded. Once it completed and restarted, I no longer have sound installed. Before I start messing around, has anyone run into this? Am using a Toshiba Satellite A200. Sound worked fine before the upgrade. Toshiba's support site doesn't have a new driver listed.

Try uninstalling SP1 and see the sound comes back or not

Vista sucks! a lot of companies don't have drivers for it.

If you go to control panel/ system and find the sound card listed, you should be able to right clck and choose to reinstall or update driver. If that doesnt work, uninstall and let it reinstal itself. Generally this seems to work in a lot of cases.
Oh, and Vista doesnt suck and more than XP did when it first came out. It just suffers a lot of prejudice from people who should know better :)

Hi Whitey01, I Saw you had trouble with your sound card. My name is rick and I work with the Windows Vista Team and I would like to try to help. I am not an official support tech or anything but I will look into this issue for you. In the meantime it is recommended that you make sure that you have the latest Vista updates installed. Then I would go to your sound card manufacturer support site and get the latest drivers for your model. (Toshiba may not have those up to date) If you can find the most up to date driver there try installing that and see what happens. Let me know if this works or if you need additional help.
    Rick
