i am trying to install a new dvd cd writer combo drive
but have ran into serious problems.

i keep getting an invalid system disk messages and
i also sometimes find there is no power going into the drive

can anyone tellme how these should be set up on the ide cable
as im also trying to install it beside a ordinary cd rom and cant seem to get the settings right

any info on bios settings would also be helpfull

    many thanx in advance

You should start with making sure that your combo drive is set up as master, and your normal CDROM drive as slave.

This can be accomplished by examining the backs of the drives and setting the jumpers for each one.

Remember - the Red or Black edge on the IDE cable is always oriented so its closest to the power cable on the drive.

In the BIOS, just leave everything on AUTOdetect for now.

Make sure those power cables are jammed in there good! :)
