    Hello,
The problem is the following: My internet connection breaks every single hour. Yes, every single hour. Like clockwork. The time when it happens changes every day but stays the same during the day. For example today, my connection breaks at XX:14. (11:14, 12:14, 13:14....) This is getting extremely annoying as it keeps disconnecting me from Windows Live, IRC or any online games I happen to be playing.

The problem exists only in my computer, the other two in my home network are unaffected. Operating system is Windows XP Home and I'm connected to internet via a Telewell modem and a Buffalo Airstation router.

    Thanks.

What firewall (security suite) are you using and please show ...

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
(For Vista type CMD in the Search box after Start)

    Type the following command:

    IPCONFIG /ALL

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.

I thought it may have something to do with renewing your IP lease, but that's obviously not the problem since your lease time is two days.

Does this problem happen if you run in Safe Mode with Networking?

Seems that there were no disconnections while running in safe mode.

That indicates you have a program (maybe malware) or service running in normal mode causing the disconnects.

Yeah, seems so. It also doesn't occur under Linux so it seems to be software-related.

Doubt it's malware, though, as it began occuring like immediately after a fresh Windows installation.

Might be my antivirus/security suite causing it....must investigate.

It seems my antivirus updated itself and the problem went away.

Seems to have been a bug with the said software.
