Hi Guys, I have a bit of a strange problem, I've searched the net for a solution and couldn't find anything so thought I'd ask for some advice here. I'm on Bigpond ADSL2+ using windows vista 32bit on a hp desktop computer. If I'm browsing the net for however long (it doesn't seem to matter how long) as soon as I close the browser window, the internet connection drops out and all other computers on the network lose the net too. The internet and DSL lights on the modem go out and flash red, then gradually it reconnects itself and is fine. It only seems to happen when closing the browser windows on that computer, doing so on other computers doesn't cause the problem. The modem is right next to this desktop, however is still a wireless connection. Cheers for any help :)

Does the problem also happen if that computer connects by ethernet with the wireless disabled?

Is the computer at least 5 or 6 feet away from the wireless router or access point? It should be is there is any suspicion of a wireless problem with devices "too close."

Thanks TerryNet,

I think you were right, the router was only about one and a half feet from the computer so there was probably some interference.

I connected the router with an ethernet cable the day you posted your reply and have been testing it since. I haven't noticed the net dropping out any more and the lights no longer flash red.

Thanks very much for your help, I think you have solved my problem!

Cheers
