What would cause this to happen? It's happened repeatedly one after another.Below are two examples:

IEXPLORE caused an invalid page fault in
module <unknown> at 0000:00000088.

Hard to say, the lack of module identification suggests the error is associated with some non-windows application, or perhaps is due to registry damage. I would run a scan for "spyware" using Ad-aware first:

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/

Read the "getting started" and FAQ pages before running and know how to restore from the backup it creates if needed.

Do you have an updated antivirus program?

Do a Disk Cleanup as well, and flush the Temporary Internet and History caches.

If the error continues, try disabling temporarily any background appications like firewalls or antivirus, update monitors, etc.

If you have the IERepair Tool, you should run it.

Upgrading IE is also an option.
