Solved: Is it safe to replace this power supply?

    Hey, i have this Lenovo m58e(i think) PC with this power supply liteon ps-5281-01vf (280w) and i want to replace it with something like Antec earthwatts EA500 500W but i heard changing power supplies could damage the motherboard so any advice? is it okay to change this power supply??

    It's safe to swap out/upgrade a PSU. However the PSU you select should be, at the very least to start, dimensionally the same. The Antec will not work. [See the attached thumbnails]
    It's somewhat debatable as to whether or not you'll be able to locate a suitable replacement anywhere near 500 watts.

    Well, relax, the power supply you currently have is most likely more than satisfactory for the system & hardware you are running. Out of curiosity, why were you thinking about replacing the PSU?
