Solved: is my crt moniter dying?

    my moniter is pretty old, a friend gave it to me. anyway, towards the bottom of the screen, theres like a discoloration. the moniter is a samtron 98bdf. my computer specs are below, in green

    discoloration usually means something near it isnt shielded, if you have PC speakers near the monitor, try moving them as far away as you can.

    Usually a degauss will fix color purity issues, when they are only on a portion of the screen, unless it has been subjected to a severe impact that has affected the shadow mask position, in which case it cannot be fixed.

    Power down, leave for ~15 minutes and power up. Repeat a few times (that does a full degauss as the thermistor has to completely cool after a power down or it does not re-activate the degaussing circuitry).
