My computer is very slow and Task Manager shows agent.exe and this ISUSPM.exe running all the time.
If I stop the ISUSPM, then the agent also stops and my System Idle goes back to 98% or so.
My question is: do I need this ISUSPM.exe as it is in C:\ProgramFiles\InstallShield\UpdateService.
What do I remove? The update service?

Thanks in advance.

System Idle Process is supposed to be in the high 90's. That's normal.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

ISUSPM doesn't need to load during startup and run in the background.

If you post a HijackThis log here, I'll be glad to assist you with the startup load.

Thanks for posting a HijackThis log. We've got a bit of work to do. :(

Before we go any further, I need to ask you some questions.

What's the brand name, model name, and model number of that computer?
(The brand name appears to be a HP, and it appears to be a laptop. If it is, the model number will be on the sticker on the bottom of the case.)

How much RAM is currently installed?

What peripherals(printer, scanner, iPod, camera, etc.) do you have connected to it or use with it?

Who is your Internet Service Provider, and are you using a 56K dial-up or a high-speed connection?

Thanks for posting the specs that I requested. That makes it easier for me to assist you with trimming down the startup load.

I thought ZIP drives went the way of Windows 95/98/ME, but you're one of those hold-outs who still use one.

Is the HP printer a stand-alone printer, or is it an all-in-one?

Unless you actually use it, uninstall HP Share-To-Web because it's useless and problematic.

I guess I used the wrong term. I have a 256mB mini-cruzer in a USB port.
The HP ia a 6210 All-In-One but I only turn it on to use it. Otherwise it is power off.
I will un-install the HP Share-To-web. Thanks.
I don't see it in Ad/Remove programs. Where do I remove it?
Anything else you can think of? Should I delete the InstallShield Update Service file?

I tried to remove HP Share -to_web file by going C/Program Files/HP/HP Share-to-Web and delete that file but it would not allow that. I got an access denied-- make sure that disc is not full or write-protected or in use??
I will try to delete individual portions first?

No, no! Don't try to uninstall a program by deleting its folder. It has to be properly uninstalled in Add Or Remove Programs first and then its folder deleted afterwards - if it's still there.

Don't worry about HP Share-To-Web. HP tends to resist having its programs uninstalled. I'm going to have you disable it in the startup list anyway so it doesn't automatically load and run.

----------------------------------------------------------------

It sounds like you have a Scandisk Mini Cruzer USB flash drive. If yours is only 256 MB, it's a pretty old model because they don't come any smaller now than 2 GB.

You can buy a 4 - GB model pretty cheap now, so you might consider buying a newer one with more storage space.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Are you ready to start trimming down the startup load?

I have a couple of other portable hard drives but didn't mention them as they are not hooked up now.
I did un-install HP PhotoImaging w/ Photosmart, HP Software Update and HP Memories Disc so far.

Yes!! I am ready to follow orders!! Thanks again for putting up with me.

If you've uninstalled any programs since you posted your last HijackThis log, restart your computer, then post a new HijackThis log here.

isuspm.exe is a process that belongs InstallShield from Macrovision. The process automatically checks for the latest updates online. By removing this process you will not get informed about the latest updates for InstallShield.
