Three easy choices come to mind.
    1. Put both computers on the same network and drag and drop the files
    2. Rent/borrow an external hard drive.
    3. Burn the files to a DVD. Besides, backups are good.

Long term goal is to get both systems on one network but in the interest of time I'll take your external drive suggestion. I assume a flash/thumb drive would work equally well?

Yeah, a thumb drive would work fine.
